Still no play.........

Having had a few days off, I still don't feel to good and still not up to the Multi-tabling poker at the moment. Although I have bought myself x2 Samsung 24" TFT Monitors which arrived today and look the dogs Bollox I just can not keep a clear head. Unfortunately Poker requires you do just that, and would be suicide to attempt to play in my frame of mind. All the work I had put in during the month is to no avail now.

I think I might have a look at the tournaments on offer and play some to try and keep the account ticking over. Will let you know, and might even try the 10c rebuy I love so much.....

Pain Stopped Play.......

No play today. Although my brother who made the trip down to see me still went ahead like Planned, but when I went to meet him I broke down more times than a VW Beetle. Returned back home, and I was still bad. I did try and play a brief bit of poker but the pain was to great no matter what position I tried to get comfortable, so I give up in the end. I want to try and make up for lost time, and will look to play some extra hours next week and hopefully some extra tables to. Sorry Folks, just couldn't be helped tonight and I am frustrated with the level of pain that's hit me today with no underlining cause.

Bad Plaza - Bad Plaza.......

Yes I am a bad Plaza.......

I really should not of fired 4 tables up while playing a Heads Up Tourney on the forum in the PPP WSOP event 4. It cost me dear and before I knew it I was broke on 1 table, after failing to spot a tight player raising me on the flop only for me to shove with top Pair top Kicker holding AJ on a Jack high Board. He had KK and that was that.... It then gets worse when I am sure I can get this player off a button steal because I noticed he had done it 3 times running, so I 3 bet him and he calls I am holding 8 9 off. Flop comes down 3 5 7 with 2 spades, and I fire a pot bet out and he calls. Hmmm OK, turn brings the 9 spades, and again I fire 3/4 pot bet out and he calls, and the river is an 8 giving me top 2 pair. Now thinking I am beating AA KK QQ JJ so I then check hoping he shoves, and he does and I call it, he flips AK spades and I wave another buy in gone. But it gets worse, if it could of course. I miss flop after flop, I miss up and down straights, I miss flushes, I miss sets when calling with Pocket Pairs with 4 in the pot preflop. Whatever I had I missed, and whenever I bluffed I was called. It is prob one of the worse days I have had in the challenge.

I have just counted 10 pots of over 20 BB I lost tonight in separate hands. I played 1024 hands tonight, and the games have just finished at 1-30 am. I was still playing 2 tables waiting for them to break, but I had to come off in the end. The damage is €26.29 down and that's with doubling on 2 hands ! Again another button steal attempt but this time I got lucky holding A3 suited in the BB and 3 bet and he calls. Flop comes down 2 5 7 rainbow and I pot bet it expecting him to fold, but he min raises and I still have outs so I call and the turn is an Ace. I check and he bets about 3/4 pot and I call, still waiting for the miracle 4 to come. River is another ace, and I just jam it in, and he calls and mucks. He starts calling me, but I cant be bothered to read it. I guess I outdrew him prob with KK, I dont know nor care.......

I should of knocked it on the head tonight when the HU tourney started for sure, and yes I will next time. I was wreckless tonight, and maybe I got an image of being a bit reckless after all that. I was determined to crack the €1.5k tonight as well, but whenever I try, I always seem to fail at the goals, so just going to plod on and if it works its all good.....

Now played 7839 hands for the month of August, and although still up for the month, its been reduced to €29.73, which is still 3 buy ins. Still a way to go till the end of the month.....

Wednesday 11 August 2010

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside.....

Went to Worthing, but it was too much and we had to come back earlier then expected. But had a good time while we were there. Got back home and not really up for any poker but by 8pm I thought Bollox to it I'll play for a couple of hours.

A couple of hours it was to, and played 412 hands in that time. The good news is I pulled back the losses I had over the last 3 days playing and stopped the streak of losing days with the key hand being KK UTG and I just limped, only for someone in late position to pot bet it with 4 limper's, and of course I put a big 3 bet in and hes the only 1 who calls it. Don't like the flop of Queen high, because he could have QQ. I check ( I don't know why either, it was the wrong play I know ) But he also checked and the turn was the money card, yes the King. I check again, and he takes the bait and 3/4 bets the pot and its a simple shove to put me all in, and he thinks and calls. The river is nothing and the pot comes my way, not knowing what he had.

I started a few bluffs tonight, which I said I was not going to do, but amazingly they worked tonight. One being a 3 bet call along with 2 other callers after I raised with 7 8 diamonds and the board comes down AD 3 5D. I bet just half the pot and all fold faster than well you know what !

I start to feel like shit with tiredness and a pounding head and decide to call it a day happy with the nights work. I turn a profit of €9.54 for the day and well on my way to the magical €1500 mark. Its just €20 to go and hope to close it out before the end of the week. I would write more, but I truly do feel like shit at the moment, so its off to bed at just 10-40pm ( I must be bad....... ).

That was a long shift !

I had to go to the physio today, so I could not do what I did yesterday and play some poker in the afternoon. So I waited until after tea and set my stall out with the 4 tables, fully expecting it to be another hard long slog, while again playing a forum PLO game in the series that's currently running which is the PPP WSOP. Anyone wanting to get involved, click the link on the right hand side on the blog !

For some bizarre reason the tables started closing after an hour which is a first, so I had to go hunting for some more tables. Tonight had everything...... Flopped quads, flopped boats, missed with huge hands and of course donkey calls by me.

I say Donkey call it wasn't really but I should of known. I had JJ on the button and its folded to me and of course I raise and the SB 3 bets me, hes just sat down and no stats on him, so I elect to call and let him hang himself. Flop comes down 8 9 10 rainbow and yes he bets the pot, so I just shove and OMG he calls turn blank river blank, and he flips AA. Buy in gone. I run quite well in the forum game and eventually end up HU so trying to play x4 cash NL games, and also a freeroll opens up that I forgot about, so its 6 games on the go, and things are a bit mad for a while. I get beat HU in the PLO game and start to concentrate on the cash tables, and I know I am down at least €15 on the day, never getting back the buy in and also losing again to shorties, and I promise myself I am folding anything up to KK to a shorty stack from now on. The amount of times they just wait for AA is unreal, and then hit and run straight after. I try a couple of bully plays towards the end, and they seem to work and eventually I decide enough is enough for 1 night. I click the re-fresh on the tracker, and I honestly can not believe it when I see it. Nothing stands out over the last 80 hands but I was €15.70 down 80 hands from the end, and I double check to see I am just €1.37 down having played almost 6 hours and 1144 hands. I defo take that and still amazed I turned it round.

Yes it does make 3 losing days in a row, but the fact its nothing more than €3 at a time, and with yesterdays bad luck and today's bad read I got to be a happy chappie !

I'm away tomorrow till later on, so the hand count will be low. Going to Worthing on the train for a bit of sea air.........

Monday 9 August 2010

1 hand is all it took !

I played so so well today, and have really run unlucky as well today.....

Everything starting good, I put in a 400 hand session this afternoon and was holding my own, even though I met QQ v KK and KK v AA and QQ v AA. I should of been well behind, but pot control saved me a bigger loss, and I ended the afternoon session virtually even which I was glad about.

So after a little rest and some food, I then started the nights play, just playing x4 cash tables because I had a little tournament on the poker forum going on tonight, which I wanted to concentrate on. Then it happened......... The 1 hand.....

For some bizzare reason I still dont know, but I just felt I was good with my 66 on the BB to the button raise. The flop come down 8 high and I pot bet it, and he raises me, and I call it. Turn is the Queen and again I bet, and he shoves. I think hes still at it and call it now putting him on AK, but AQ was my dread. The river is a blank and he shows KQ, and I lose a full buy in. Lesson today was why try and bluff or try to get someone off a hand, when you dont know how they play. I had no history on the guy, and should of give him the benefit of the doubt, and watched him for a little longer. rather then thinking I can push him off it......

I then spend 3 hours trying to get the loss back, and yes I did take the odd risk in some cases, which is not how I want to be perseved at this level. I was doing ok just playing my game and getting paid off when I hit something. I double another shorty up with me holding QQ, and although I pretty sure I am beat, I still call the huge raise and the shove on the flop, and yes he was holding AA. I do win a €10 pot when Blind v Blind and Im holding AK, and the flop comes down Ace high, and he shoves. I dont know what hes holding but I pick it up. Then the games start to close down at 11-30 ish and I call it a day.

I check the tracker and slightly puzzled, but overall happy I guess. I thought I might of lost a lot more than I did, and yeah surprised to see just a loss of €2.67 for 1103 hands played today. I am pleased with the volume I played today, with an ease I enjoyed.

It all depends if I can manage to wake up earlier I suppose, like today was 10AM, but I had a GP appointment. But going to bed tonight at a reasonable hour, so hope to wake up early again........

Yup it had to happen !

All good things must come to an end, and so does my winning streak for August. I actually had a losing day, and the 1st bit of red is now sat on the 8th August. But I guess its not all so bad, because I really did not want to play today. Sunday is becoming a day of pain and suffering which is caused by the weekly shopping trip into town and then followed later by the daily walk and its starting to take its toll on me. I had to rest in bed after the salad I had for tea, and I promptly fell alseep only to be woken by the sound of Big Brother finishing. There was a relief to say the least....... So that made it 10-00pm and still not played an hand of poker all day. I felt a bit better so instead of playing my usual $1 tournies tonight, I cracked open x8 tables for old times sake, and I managed almost an hour before they started closing down faster than the speed of the National Debt raising, and thats fast......

I was surprised that in the 50 minutes I played x8 tables I had managed 328 hands in total. Nothing worth of mention really. I bluffed a few pots early on and was then 3 bet most of the time, so went back into my shell taking mental notes for future references for profitable poker when we meet again. I think my biggest pot of the night was blind v blind who had raised me when I first sat down when I was holding AQ, and let it go after he fired a 3rd barrel on the river and I didnt have anything apart from the shove maybe. Anyways Its an Ace high flop giving me a flush draw with my 2 4 suited and I bet 3/4 pot which is only 18c and he min raises me and I call. The turn brings a 2 and I check for him to pot bet it, and again I call. The river is a 4 giving me bottom 2 pair. I put a little bet out and again he min raises, and I call it and he mucks and I dont know what he had. But I got lucky on the river I guess, or maybe my bottom pair was good, who knows, or cares really......

So the tables break and I look at the damage, and I am down €2.92 for the day. Saw nothing, bluffed a little, and chased a nut flush draw with 5 calling a turn pot bet by some player and I missed, but I was looking at it as a +EV spot if hit.

I hope I feel a bit better tomorrow, because today I struggled !

Sunday 8 August 2010

So the week is over - Lets have a look !!!

I feel like the host on the Generation game..... Good Game Good Game.......

The week is over and yes I made it. Made what I hear you say.....

I finished the week without a losing session, and well pleased overall with the week.

Tonight's session was again a struggle to start, and it took a while before I managed to get x4 tables running, but the bad new is, they all started breaking up about 10-30pm. That's 90 Min's before they normally start to close. I can not remember them closing so soon before, but with the holidays I guess it must effect it sometimes. I will be able to gauge it better this time next week, but it looks like I might have to up the amount of tables I play. But of course that takes away some of the $1 Tourneys I have started playing. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it all the time.

Overall the tracker says I played just over 19 hours for the week. Granted it was me who decided not to play till after the evening meal and sometimes go for a walk. But it looks like I might have to play a couple of hours or at least an hour during the day, and hope it does not become a chore, which is what I don't want. Also have to consider the rake back I am getting as well. It needs to be over €100 a month for me to receive 45% back, and unless I play either more tables or more hours I will be short. Not much but I would rather be over the amount with some comfort rather then relying on the tracker records of the rake back, because I know they can be off.

So tonight's session was just over 2 hours before the tables started breaking up. I managed to get in over 440 hands but the important stat is it was another winning day making a total of 6 days running. Not a great deal stands out really apart from raising the button raise with 66 and he shoves. I normally fold and don't want to gamble and he was a short stack 20 BB Muppet as well. But I did call v his AK and I took that. I did luck out v another short stack who shoved all in again for 20BB after I raised with QQ to just 2.8 BB. I didn't think he would show KK, but I took it after flopping the Q for a set. But I would not of folded that.
Another hand that springs to mind is another suck out. But I only have his word for it though. I had KK and rivered a straight and he folded to my river bet saying he had AA, and I got lucky. I finished up €9.90 which is 10c short of another buy in.

So been a good week, and below is the graph for the week. My overall bankroll is now €1475.92

If you click the graph it zooms in to see !

Saturday 7 August 2010

Practise what you spreech.......

Well I did say I was going to put a double shift in after missing yesterday through Ill Health, and that's what I did.

Almost 6 hrs of playing x4 tables today I managed, and in all that time nothing stands out much. Today's play was full of If only's with a couple of key hands which returned huge dividends if only I had played the hand.......

Another one which was right at the end of the session. I was thinking about the implied odds if I hit, and because I played very tight tonight I was concerned if I did hit and stayed in the pot they were not going to be........

Of course like I said I might not of been paid, but the flush on the turn I would of represented for sure and maybe collect a big pot. But I didnt, and again it cost me. But by playing tight tonight it did save me some cash when I let hands go and would of been crushed.

I did call an all in shove with AK suited v a short x20 BB player. He also had AK suited and his was the one that caught the flush and I ended up losing. Other times flopping sets, only for the str or the flush to hit facing big bets. Yeah they could of been floating, but I have yet to see it at this level on a constant basis. Maybe once or twice but nowhere near enough to think it was being done all the time. I would only have to see it once and they would have a note on them, and I dont remember ever having to write such a note.

So although I played a grand total of 1267 hands today, I only managed a profit of €2.84. But with some hard luck stories and if only stories it could of been so much different. I guess I should be happy its another winning day and puts me back on track with 3.4k hands played this month with an overall profit of €43.54 this month already. But I have yet to have a losing day this month, and not many players can say that !!!!

Friday 6 August 2010

Rain stopped play.......

Not really rain, but it was close and I didn't play.

I had a follow up appointment today with the surgeon which involved driving 10 miles or so. The pain I was in when I returned was horrid, and after eating I went for the daily walk which did not do me any favours either. On my return from the walk I had to lie down on the bed it was that bad. So I decided not to play tonight. But because of the lost play today in the region of about 500 hands, I might do a double shift tomorrow, prob in the afternoon. I don't want to waste the good start I have had by not playing. If not tomorrow it will be Saturday.

Sorry if you were expecting an update, but the health needs to come 1st, annoying both for me and you.........

Thursday 5 August 2010

You F****** ***** ****** ****** **** **********

That's what you get called when you outdraw someone and they don't like it !

Let me explain......

Really struggled tonight to enter any games, and it took about an hour of trying before I was able to play 4 tables. I hate joining the waiting list and much prefer to jump on a table before it gets reserved, if you time it right it can be done.

Anyway I had nothing to say tonight after I played 500 hands or so apart from a couple of bluffs that got called, but did wonders for my table Image NOT. Well I guess its how you view that statement really. So like I said nothing at all happened. When that hand come up.....

I'm mid Position with JJ and raise it and button 3 bets it, nothing out of the Norm standard 3 times my bet I think maybe hes trying a move on me, because I had no stats on him and I never seen him before, so I call it and the flop comes down 10 high rainbow. I check to him to see what he does. Sometimes when there called they tend to close up if there bluffing. But he bets out half the pot and straight away I sense hes weak so I call. Thinking back maybe I should of raised the flop bet and been happy to take it there and move on, there are still 2 cards to come and if he did have AK AQ ish he could still catch. But hey Ho..... The turn is the Nuts its the Jack, no flush draws out there only a str draw or gutshot but I am not worried at all unless hes got QQ KK AA But with 1 card to go odds are in my favour so I check. ( People who know me, know I hate checking sets its my pet hate, but on this flop I could afford to check ) Which is what I do, and he bets the pot this time. OK hes committed pretty much now so I shove and he instant calls and its a nothing 5 on the river. He mucks and I collect a nice double up. Nothing wrong with that was there?

But he did not like it one bit, and the insults start..... 5 minutes later he was still calling me and my mother and my bottom..... Pretty straight forward hand really and he was outdrawn.... It happens get over it. Maybe if I had not hit the Jack on the turn and he put the same bet out, maybe I would of folded knowing he was holding either 1 of the top 3 Pockets. Like I said, its rare I get anyone 3 barreling at these limits so logical kicks in. But can you find anything wrong with the play?

We move on....... and its not long before its a blind on blind hand on another table me holding 44 in the BB and SB raises x3 and I call it. I flop the 4 with J 9 and he bets out the pot and I call it. Again not worried about anything and see if he carries on betting.
The turn brings the King and again he pot bets it and I call it. Ok he could have Q10 and made the straight now, if so my fault for not raising the Flop, but I want more cash out of him, and let him hang himself..... The River is another King and fills me up. Ok now I am wanting him to have AK KQ but of course he could have KJ K9. He then shoves and I call. He does have Q10 for the turned straight, but the river paired the board and I win.
I would not of played it any different. You take the chance when you have hands like that, and yeah sometimes it can back fire, but if I went out betting big every time I hit a hand I would find a lot of folds for sure.....

So all the action in the last 30 Min's of a 3hr and 15 min session and by 12-15am the tables start to break and I call it quits.

I check the stats on the PT3 and find I played 619 hands just 7 hands down from the previous night, with a profit of € 14.06. Also makes 4 days running in profit and puts me up 4 buy ins over 4 days with the rake ticking along nicely to. I know its out on the tracker because the tracker can not share a raked pot when its chopped. I had KK v KK tonight for a chopped pot so its out, but still shows € 12.39 which is good after 4 days at these levels.

Bring on tomorrow please........

Wednesday 4 August 2010

Good Day...... No GOOD DAY !!!!

This game always throws something up, just when you think you seen it all, out pops something else.....

Go'd day ( oz accent ) Yes very much so I'll say !!!

After recovering from having to get up this morning at the unearthly time of 11am to go see the physio and then having a nap when I got back for an hour I felt up for it today.....

Normally I do not play till after tea which is 7pm, this is because I don't normally have the hunger for it if I played during the day, so I stopped myself till the said time. But I was chatting away on the poker forum and cracked open x2 tables to help me along. Nothing exciting and I lasted an hour then closed down. Slightly up on the session and got in 100 hands or so.

Fully fed and watered, and been out for the daily walk which I do every day to help the back pain limbo up...... ( I don't know why, cos I always feel worse for it when I get back ) I then proceeded to crack open x4 tables. I say 4 because I wanted to try 6 tonight, but I am loving the low buy in tourneys and cant stop myself from playing them...... Anyway back to tonight's action. I was struggling a bit to be honest, and lost a bit when the BB called my button raise and flopped top 2 pair v my top Pair top kicker. But then the fun started......

I'm in the BB holding K10 and 3 limper's so I check and flop comes down 10 10 10 - Loving it !
Of course I check..... Then someone bets out...... Bollox to it, its easier if I post the HH

Yes you saw right, he limped with AA..... Lesson to all NEVER LIMP WITH ACES !!!

So it set me on my way for a good night, but the fun did not stop there. The same guy who I lost to in the BB with top 2 pair, well we clashed again only this time I got him back. I'm holding QJ off on the button and folded round to me and I raise it x3 BB and he 3 bets me to 96c and I call it. The flop comes down KQJ with a flush draw. He bets 3/4 pot and I 3 bet it to €5-15 and he 4 bet shoves. I know I am ahead and I know I just dont want the board to pair.
Turn is the 4 and the river is a 6 and he flips over K10 for top pair with a open ended straight draw which he missed. So I double off him and carry on playing. Nothing else really happens and I opt to go to the bathroom and sit out. When I come back I have been kicked off the tables for missing to many hands.
I play 1 table later on while playing 2 tourneys and make a small profit and then the table starts to break and I call it a night.

Just checked the stats and found I have played a total of 1500 hands in August and I played 626 today for an overall profit for the day of €18.64 which is almost 2 buy ins. I know players can get this in prob an hour or so, but its about progression for me and not a sprint. I watched Jesus on tilt go on about his challenge, and it took him 18 months in all to reach it. Hes a former world champ and knows his stuff and If it takes me 3 years to get there I still think that's very good going. I am pleased with how this turning out and I am proving to myself that I can play some good stuff. Granted I am not a Manic so my swings are never huge, and most of the time I will have winning sessions rather than losing ones because I know Luck does play its part sometimes and you might get your money in good, only to be outdrawn. It happens but its how you deal with it that counts.....

More of the same tomorrow please !!!!!

Tuesday 3 August 2010

Well that was a struggle......

Again just the 4 tables tonight and played ok. But I did make a few mistakes and I seemed to tighten up towards the end, so I thought it time I left because I was not comfortable with it.

Nothing major sticks out apart from being 2 outered for 3 all ins, but I took the side pot for a little extra than I invested....

I was rivered a couple of times when holding KK when the Ace hit and they just couldnt fold it no matter how much I was betting.

But slightly better than last night when I had just 1 winning table.... Tonight I had 2.....

Overall I did manage a winning session again. Ok not much but I was happy with the way it went.
I played a total of 463 hands which is slightly up from last night, and yes getting back to the feel of it.
Overall profit was €1.78 for the night.

I can play more hands later on now, if of course the tables manage to stay open after midnight without everyone leaving. Having demonstrated it on Tilt tonight by playing over 200 hands on 1 table while playing x2 MTT's. So I shall look to do it on the challenge tomorrow instead.

Hit and run players are the pits......

Well its back......... The daily Blog.

Geared myself up to play, and opened up x4 tables and found it a bit difficult to keep up at first. Ok I was playing x2 tournaments at the same time, but I still struggled a bit.

Things didnt set off great either when I lost a buy in with JJ, and me putting him on AK and infact he had kk. But it wasnt long before I found myself in deeper shit when I decide to double up a shortstack who then leaves the table straight away. But not to be outdone by this I then proceed to double him again on another table and before I get the chance to say I suppose your going now, he was gone ! I hate these sorts of players, they just sit there wait for a big hand ship it in and run when they double, only to return to another table were your sat again with the Minimum buy in. But I guess it didnt take me long to remember I fold to these players and so I started to.

So not a great start losing 1.5 buy in. But I perceived, and eventually I won my buy in back with KK.

So that made me most of my cash back, then on the same table I 3 bet with 8 6 suited and the flop comes 234 rainbow he checks and I bet he then min raises and I call. I then find the miracle card of the 5 clubs giving me a straight and also a flush draw as well, and think there is no way he can put me on a 6, so I bet out and again he raises and I am guessing now hes got to have an ace or Poss 2 of them, so I shove knowing he thinks I have an ace as well and sure enough he calls and the river is a nothing card and I collect the pot of €15.49.

That pot took me over the 1.5 buy in on that table and at that point I decided to close the other 3 down as well. I actually lost on the other 3 but apart from the buy in it was not much just the Hit and run guy who now as a note attatched to his name.

Overall I played 400 hands spot on and was happy with that for the 1st day anyway and made an overall profit of €6.27.

I must also say the level of play I encountered tonight was more aggressive from a few new players I had not seen before. I hope they dont come and spoil my fun......... More tomorrow please....
